Our services include the design and construction of modern new homes, additions and renovations of existing homes. We also design and build modern kitchens and cabinet work for wall units, media walls, built-in’s and any other cabinet work.
We begin each project with Design Services which is separate from our Construction Contract. This necessary first step, for any project to be built, keeps the construction phase of the project organized and nearly free of questions. Every detail of the project will be studied and specified including but not limited to the building envelope, weather barriers, insulation types, window and door selections, flooring, cabinet style, lighting design, plumbing fixtures, hardware and any other component of the design. The process will include landscape architectural services if related to the project, coordination with structural engineers, civil engineers, architects, surveyors, energy auditors and any other necessary third party consultant required.
At the end of the design process each client will have a detailed estimate of the project and a full set of working drawings suitable for submission for a building permit.
In addition to those standard coordination needs we also take our projects through the entire permitting process in the City of Portland or wherever a project is being built.
In regards to being ‘green’, which is worth discussing, we certainly respect our environment but we do not use this marketing phrase to define our work or let ‘green design’ control what our buildings look like. Our work is simply designed to be as durable and energy efficient as the project budget allows while still providing an engaging design that is pleasing and healthy. We use our blower door to test for air tightness when feasible, we install ERV’s to keep air quality clean and use products appropriate for maintaining a long service life.
The work you see has nearly all been built by us in our shop. All of the kitchens, vanity’s, handrails, steel staircases, built-ins, etc. all start from CAD drawings in the shop. This allows us to maintain quality control and keep our process and schedule organized. In addition to that, clients are able to see their work in full scale throughout the process. This helps with minor changes to cabinet layout and size, types of finishes on products, hardware compatibility and a host of other benefits not available when outsourcing.
