Portland Renovations, Inc. is a professional design-build construction company focusing on modern, durable structures and spaces that are highly designed and specific to the clients’ needs. Since 2001 the foundation and basic guiding principals of the company have rested on a collaborative design background, project management and client service. My previous career as Landscape Architect where these skills are necessary for keeping complicated projects in order have been very instrumental in our ability to provide a high level of service to our clients.
In 1994 I graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture. I practiced for five years in my home state of New Jersey for MKW, Miceli Kulik Williams with offices in New Jersey and New York City. During my time there I was involved with very large scale private, municipal, State, University and Government projects that were challenging yet rewarding in many ways. During my time there I was involved with many projects but one notable project was the New York Botanical Garden Everett Children’s Adventure Garden in Bronx, New York. It is still an honor to have been part of this amazing project.
Following that, I moved to Portland to get away from the intensity of the City, which is still attractive, and joined a small office in Portland for a short time but eventually landed a more fitting position with MBLA, Michael Boucher Landscape Architecture. It was at this office where I was exposed to more of what was already programmed in me, modern Architecture. MBLA was a great launching pad to make the move from my profession as a Landscape Architect to a builder. Michael exposed me to the highest level of design and workmanship that still inspires me every day and continues to challenge me to produce my very best work on each project. At MBLA I was fortunate enough to work with Maine’s best Architects and Architects from all over the United States and abroad on many projects. A notable project that consumed much of my time and intrigued me and taught me many lessons was the Amangiri Resort in Kane County Utah.
While having been involved with projects with budgets of 50M and above, I have found my comfort zone in residential work where I can be more in touch with the client, directly control the project details and still utilize larger scale management experience to provide my clients with a well organized design and construction process.
I reside in Portland with my very talented wife and our two children.
